Before Your Session
QUESTIONNAIRE
We have put together a questionnaire, which will help us get to know you and your family better and plan for your session. Our job as artists is to create work that is meaningful to you, and the best chance of doing that is if you open up about the things that matter the most to you. By getting to know you better, we'll be able to create work that feels like stepping into a memory of your family's story as you are right now.
WHAT TO WEAR
Choosing your clothing is one of the key elements to creating great imagery, and I want to do everything I can to help guide you in this process. Be mindful of prints and logos. An excess of logos, even from luxury brands, is not elegant. Choose a timeless look instead.
I recommend looking for pieces that are in a neutral, solid, muted color palette because they work with any home decor and stand the test of time. Warm Earthy Neutral tones (such as cream or blush) with some cool colors (grey, light blue) mixed in are always timeless. If you are interested in choosing a darker color, look for deeper neutral tones such as hunter green. The reason why I don't recommend bright colors or busy patterns is that they can distract from the focus of the images, or date with time.
Consider including accessory pieces, like a hat or a blazer. Consider undressing and simply wear a lacy panties with a bralette.
One of the most common concerns I hear from moms-to-be is about how their arms look in photos during pregnancy. If that’s something you're even a little worried about, I strongly recommend choosing a long-sleeve outfit. Since we’ll capture some natural movement and angles, it’s hard to avoid showing arms, and long sleeves can help you feel more confident and comfortable.
With your phone, take a picture of the wardrobe of everyone who will be photographed, and send it to us by email or sms. Make sure to have all pieces together, so I can see how they look as a group. After seeing this picture, I can give you my feedback and instructions, if any.
THINGS TO CONSIDER IN ADVANCE
Keep your hair well cared for and your ends trimmed for a healthy look. Try simple, elegant hairstyles that complement your personal style without overdoing it.
If you do your own makeup, please make sure that it matches your natural skin tone. Don’t put too much makeup on to cover up a blemish. It is normally easier to correct a blemish in editing than to correct too much makeup. When in doubt, remember that your makeup should never stand out more than you. It’s just a tool to conceal imperfections and enhance your natural beauty.
Pay close attention to your nails. Many of the photographs will focus on your hands. Consider treating yourself to a manicure and pedicure so they look picture perfect! Soft polish colors or natural nails are best.
Consider how you feel about varying levels of undress in your photographs, and the final look that you want in your pictures. Please don’t hesitate to tell me if you are not comfortable in certain poses or with a certain body part uncovered.
NEXT STEP: Please let us know when you finish reading this Prep Guide, answer the Questionnaire, and select your outfit (or a couple), so we can schedule our Discovery Call to discuss your wardrobe and goals.
The Session Itself
This is your chance to leave a piece of yourself, your love, your presence, your story, preserved in timeless portraits. So that even when your arms can no longer hold, your heart will always be felt. This is your chance to celebrate the connection you share. Let us make it easy, comfortable, and genuinely joyful. You deserve to be seen and remembered.
Just arrive at our Wellington studio ready to be photographed at your selected time - preferably five minutes earlier, as we want to make the best out of your scheduled time with me. We will not be able to extend your session time as we may have other appointments. For the same reason, we will be ready for you on time. The gated community has two entrances. Make sure GPS takes you to the Front Entrance at Stribling Rd. Speed limit is 20mph.
Please make sure there are no hair ties on your wrist and that your partner doesn’t have a phone, wallet, or keys in their pockets. These little things can be surprisingly distracting in photos! Any extra retouching beyond standard editing may incur an additional fee, so a quick check before we start can save us both time later.
Leave all the rest to us! We will talk beforehand about what to wear and what you want to get from your images. Our sessions are designed with you in mind: relaxed, stress-free, and all about capturing the love between you and your child. No rushing, no worrying about the weather, no scrambling to get everything perfect. We’ve got you!
After the Session
The week after your session, you’ll receive a private slideshow with 10–15 beautifully edited photos, so you can relive the magic we created together.
When you booked, you already paid for the Basic Package (your session + 2 digitals). After watching your slideshow, you’ll have the chance to upgrade if you’d like:
Standard Package: 5 digitals + $150 print credit
Premium Package: All digitals + slideshow + $300 print credit
The best part? You only decide after seeing your photos. No pressure, no guessing, just choose what you truly love.
Whether you go with the Basic, Standard, or Premium package, your memories are worth it!

After that, you'll have a full week to select the specific digital files and print items you want to use to fill that collection... Zero pressure! What you're going to do with your images is perhaps the most important aspect to consider when you're planning for a photo session, but it's all too often the aspect that's overlooked... All that time and money invested deserve a better return than photos gathering dust on a hard drive somewhere. You'll never get the same feeling looking at your photos on a screen as you will seeing them on your wall or flipping through the pages of an album.
